This Boy Waterprint
60” × 90”
A symphony in blue and yellow.
This Boy Waterprint began as a back-to-school portrait — a ritual I’ve returned to year after year. What emerges is less a portrait than a landscape, a weather map: atmospheric.
This summer I saw a lot Van Gogh’s paintings in London — I was inspired by his gesture of painting a work to brighten a room for a friend.
Much of the art world resists what is pleasing, and I understand why. But I return to Van Gogh’s impulse: to create spaces where art is joyful, uplifting and beautiful.
This Boy Waterprint is my own gesture toward that — a fleeting time, suspended, a longing to make it last.
