Dark Water is a beautiful specimen of the artist’s special technique. Compellingly dark layers of green create a densely saturated slightly textured surface which could be imagined as landscape or geological formation. Juxtaposed by a watercolor-stained cloud, soaked into the canvas. The dialectic movement and fragility permeates.

Erin Bird is a contemporary artist based in Surrey, UK. She’s originated the innovative art process of “waterprinting”. Combing through family archives to create digital montages that reflect individual and intergenerational transformation, she then transform these images in unpredictable ways by submerging in water. Once altered, she carefully paint layers of color until the former image is completely abstracted. What remains is a vibrant form that conveys a sense of movement and freedom.
