The Sun also Rises

Contemporary artist Erin Bird presents The Sun also Rises, a virtual exhibition of 33 new and recent artworks that evoke the fleeting vibrancy of summer, five of which are affordable limited edition prints.

The presentation’s title is taken from Hemingway’s 1926 novel about the lives and interactions of American and British expatriates seeking hedonistic adventure in France and Spain during the summer months. Bird, also an American expatriate residing in Britain, creates her waterprints from an archive of family photographs that spans three generations. Combining photographic technologies with material experimentation she creates ethereal and unexpected results. The barely visible photograph is a fragment of memory, now a new, organic form that evokes the revivifying power of nature.

The Sun also Rises wraps us in colour, vivid, optimistic radiance. Bird shares these visual portals through which we might reimagine the past, for a brighter, more luminous future.
